Halloween and Fall Time Fun

We had such a fun Halloween this year-we somehow turned a one day event into a week- long fun fest! We went to the Children's Museum Haunted House Monday, Waterman's Pumpkin patch Wednesday, the Zoo's "Zoo Boo" Thursday, Ward trunk or treat Friday, trick or treating with Jax's buddies Saturday night and then a visit to Aunt Joan's house in costume Sunday! We had a blast and the kids had ample opportunity to wear their costumes.
Eliza "Bee." Louthain was the cutest little bumblebee, below she is saying "bzzz" which we made her say instead of trick or treat when out Saturday night.
This girl did NOT mess around when it came to claiming the candy! After taking this picture of her she promptly motioned for me to "move out of her way" for I was blocking the sidewalk.
Jax and Eliza below got to watch an elephant eat a pumpkin and paint a picture at the zoo!

I am pretty sure for the rest of Jackson's life he will not be able to top his Halloween costume of '09!! We knew the curls couldn't last forever, so somehow I convinced him that being Frodo Baggins from "Lord of the Rings" would be WAY cooler than dressing up like "Thomas the Tank" and he agreed to be a hobbit (and I am not kidding you, when the kid ran from house to house trick or treating he LOOKED just like a little hobbit running around-hopefully I will get a video on here ASAP so you can see for yourself)! He's never seen the movie but I showed him pictures online of Frodo, and I think the sword sold him (it lights up blue like Frodo's "sting" sword in the movie). He also quite enjoyed the idea of having a powerful ring. When asked what was around his neck he'd reply with glee, "the one ring to rule them all!!"

Below at Waterman's (muddy!) Pumkin Patch. Kids got to play on tires, jump on inflatables, climb haystacks, drive mini tractors and go for a hayride to pick out a little pumpkin.
All that for 3$-yeah, we'll go again next year!
I taught our mommy run preschool a week or so ago and we read "The Leaf Man" then made our own leaf men (or women!) I personally fell in love with my little "Goose Girl Going for a Walk"(that's right- I even gave my "artwork" a title!)
The kids really came up with cool people and animals! And what mom isn't proud of her kid when she asks them "Why do leaves change color?" And they reply, "Because the green chlorophyl dissapears!" I love love our preschool group!
Below is from an earlier preschool field trip to the apple orchards...and obviously Anderson's Orchard also had a pumpkin patch.
Jax and Grant chillin on their circular orange friend.
One thing I love about Indiana, is the FALL TIME!! The colors are amazing and the weather is soo temperate that Autumn lasts for two-three months! Just the other week (above picture) the kids were out one evening doing chalk art at a friends's house in t-shirts and shorts. And people sat out on their front porches to hand out candy for Halloween. There was many a Halloween in Utah where people didn't go out to trick or treat because it was snowing!! Not an issue here in Hoosierville!

  4. It will be hard to top Frodo. I still smile thinking of him running around - he looked just like a hobbit.
