"I buried my testimony today!"

So today was our 8th Wedding Anniversary.

Andy currently doing the work load of two jobs + me in the throws of Stake Pioneer Trek & Girls' Camp planning, trainings & meetings + rainy weather + anniversary on Fast Sunday + day filled with church meetings, tired/sick kids, choir practice etc = kind of a...well...a lame anniversary...or so you'd think!

It is true, there was no breakfast in bed or a nice family walk today. But my little 4 year old man came through with such a sweet surprise that all the rest kind of faded away. After a few children bore their testimonies today in sacrament meeting. Jax asked, "If I had a testimony could I go up to the microphone and share it too?" He and I had a chat about what a testmony was and he discovered that he did "know that God loved him and that he felt good when he served others...etc" Upon realizing that he indeed had a testimony, he said, "Can I go up and bury my testimony next?"

I responded, "SURE honey-dad can take you up!!"

Well, it made my heart swell to see his curly brown head barely poking over the pulpit. And with his mouth basically swallowing the microphone, he bellowed, "I'd like to bury my testimony that I know this church is true...God lives and loves me...I know my family loves me...I love my mommy...I love my sister, Eliza...I love my primary teacher..."

Andy then followed with his own sweet testimony joking, "Notice he didn't say he loved his dad..."

Cute Jackson was so concerned that on their way back to our pew his said to Andy, "Daddy, I promise next time I bury my testimony I will make sure they all know that I love you too!"
I'd be remiss if I left out Miss Eliza B. who exclaimed, "Good job, Jackie!" as Jax and Andy scooted back into our row! 8 years later and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else or with anyone else.
Ofa atu, Lou.

  1. such a cute story and well said. I feel the same about my family. I don't want to be anywhere else. Wish I had known it was your anniversary while you were singing that amazing alto and tenor in my ear, I would have wished you congratulations!

  3. Sorry things have been so CRAZY and that you didn't get to do anything special for your anniversary, but I can certainly understand how Jackson's testimony made your heart swell with joy! How sweet! Maybe next year you can have a sweet mommy moment AND some time with your hubby. :)
