May 2010

The Indy 500 wasn't the only highlight of May.  We enjoyed a MAPP Preschool end of the year fieldtrip at our zoo.  Just missing Easton below in panguinland.

It was a busy day at the zoo and there were free milk "chugs" being handed out.  As I helped other kids get their drinks, Eliza managed to wonder off.  I now know that feeling of sheer terror only a mother can feel not knowing where their cild is or what might have happened to them.  I tired to stay calm as I ran one way shouting her name and other moms ran the other direction shouting her name.  Luckily, she'd headed straight for the playground and stayed put.  A woman noticed she looked lost and shortly after Eliza spotted a familiar Anna! That will get your heart pumping!!

Eliza oftens "rescues" us with her contagious smile and quick wit.  She's at that age where everything she says is cute! She wants to do everything Jax does, and just like her brother-this one is a talker!
Jax likes to hop onto the window and ponder on life's complexities...ok, I can say for sure that the first part of that statement is true!
Jackson wanted to pose with his favorite "transformer bumblebee".  For the first three years of his life he told people to call him "Thomas, Thomas the Tank Engine", but ever since he played one time at an older friends' home with transformers its "call me Bumblebee" and poor Thomas has been left behind.
Another May highlight for us was a Co-op Date Night Reunion.  It started, jeez could it be over three years ago? My goodness.  Five moms (all having one kid at the time all the same age) happened to show up at a play group one Friday, the co-op idea was suggested, all moms jumped at the notion and we've had weekly date nights ever since...well, that is until one couple moved...then another...we're down to three couples, but now there's 8 kids in the mix!  Ask Jackson who his best friend is and you may get a long answer.  "Brody is my best friend in Utah, Natalie is my best friend in Pennsylvania, Colista and Grant are my best friends in Indiana...oh, and Maria too!"
"Jackson, maybe if you just hold on tight enough, no more of your friends will move away!!"

We set up the tent in the house one night.  The kids loved it so much we let it take over the spare room for a couple of weeks.  It provided the perfect place for the boys to sleep while the Hanson's stayed with us.

I know it is a little odd to post a "May 2010" entry in January! But my first resolution of 2011 was to update the blog! This whole past week I have spent hours and hours locating pics, downloading them, trying to remember things...blogging and I guess writing in your journal is definitely easier to do consistently-no brainer-but will I have learned my lesson? I guess 2011 will show!

I will have to say, that my non-blogging wasn't entirely my fault. For one, our computer crashed shortly after I did the Indy 500 entry and I was without a computer for a week or so.  Once I get out of a habit, it takes me a while to get back into it.  Secondly, May is the beginning of the busy season in Summer Stake activity planning.  Third, my health took a nose dive Spring of 2010.  I thought it was just "seasonal allergies" being more intense than usual.  Then things just continued to decline.  The only way I can describe how I felt -and let me be clear I'm not nor was I pregnant - but I felt like I had a sinus infection + mono + being pregnant all at once, all the time.  Chronic intense headaches, painful sore throats, muscles achy and sore, struggle to get out of bed every morning, crashing into bed every night-at least one night a week by 8pm...not the most ideal situation for a mom of young kids...I will spare you the boring details of my drama! But over the summer I saw a couple doctors and had a bunch of tests done, nothing conclusive.  In September, I began a new "journey" to regain my health, currently the road to recovery is still "in process"- but more about that in September.

  2. Phenomenal job of catching up the blog - you'll really appreciate having done this in a few years when you and the kids look back and remember specifics. So many good things this year.
