Girls Camp

We just got back from Girls' Camp and I am heading out of town tomorrow, but I'd feel remiss if I didn't do a quick blog about something that has been such a big part of my life recently! I was asked to serve as a 4th year level leader with one of my best friends, Ashley Hansen a few months ago. Then I was called to be the Stake Young Women's Secretary a couple of months ago...I had the oppportunity to fufill both roles at camp. Between the two callings, I performed in about 12 skits, changed my clothes at least four times a day, went on a camp out overnighter, sang "The Rose" in fourpart barbershop harmony, went rock repelling, visited all the wards nightly, did a morning devotional, blazed hiking trails...wore myself out...and LOVED every minute of it!!

The theme was "Treasure It" and was all based around Pres. Monson's talk in 2005 "Be Thou An Example". It was such an incredibly spiritually uplifting week!! Below is our Presidency and Jill and Erika (the camp director and assistant/best friend!) We performed "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything!" I was going for Captain Hook with the curly mustache, but was told I looked like Jack Sparrow, I guess if I have to look like a guy, that one isn't too bad!!! Above is Pres. Trina Fishburn and myself.

We called our Certification level "The Kung Fu 4th Years" and played off of "Kung FU Panda". Every girl in the group was one of the characters in the movie. In addition to the usual certification stuff, I led the girls in a Yoga routine, we went rock repelling, Ashley taught them how to do oragami! Hands down we had the coolest group!!! Luckily, we stayed true to our group motto "There is no charge 4 awesomeness or attractiveness" (or else we would have cost the camp a bundle!!) Below is me doing "super woman" aka hanging upside down during the 22 foot repel down.

Our group prepared a fun skit in a bout a day, I was impressed with the costumes the girls pulled off in a matter of hours. Po and Master Shifu below!

I was the voice over on the mike "translating" the girls' Chinese through out the skit-no costume necessary this time! Unfortunately, being in the skits I don't have any pictures OF the skits. So if you are reading this and you have hideous pics of me dressed up like a director, a lifeguard or one of the Village people email it to me!
So, I'm not including even a 1/4 of the awesomeness what was camp, but I would chalk it up as one of the "TOP 4" highlights of my year. A big thank you to all my friends that watched my kids for me while Andy was at work-I couldn't have done this without you!!
Jackson was helping me put all my nasty camp clothes in the wash when he stumbled across my Kung Fu bandana. He quickly donned "the awesomeness" and was showing me his moves in the below picture.
One last note: Our Stake Presidency did a play on "Y.M.C.A." dubbing it "C.A.M.P.", an acronym to help the girls remember how to properly bear their testimony..."Christ centered, positive Attitude, Mindful of your Minutes, and Prepare with Prayer". If you currently serve in Young Women's or ever serve in Young Women's and need a REALLY FUN FABULOUS 30-40minute presentation on Testimonies: What you should say and how you should bear it during a testimony meeting email me and I will give you more details!!
