July 2010

All you need are sparklers to make a toddler happy for the 4th.

We put Eliza to bed, then Jax and I headed to a nearby church parking lot where a few families always gather to watch the fireworks.
One of the things I love about Indiana is Chick-Fil-A! They are always so friendly there and giving away free food!  We kidnapped Grant and went to a free night...OK you had to earn the free food by dressing up like a cow...Andy couldn't believe I'd humiliate him thus, but come on, "It's free food, now put on your cow mask for two seconds while we order!"  Among other free stuff-they had face painting...

So every summer I say I am going to do swim lessons for the kids and never do because I am gone alot and then we tend to travel to family a lot...but "mama came through" this year!

I don't know why this above picture is posting like that, but Eliza with her swim teacher.  Eliza loved swimming and was fearless jumping in, going under etc.
Jackson likes swimming a lot and he even almost put his head under.  Funny the different personalities of my kids!
Eliza, loves dressing up, she always has, but it's not longer the oversized clothes of her brother she found in the laundry bin-no, no this princess now dresses up in style!!
So what do you do when it's bloomin' hot outside?  Find entertainment hangin out elsewhere.

Youth Conference over the 24th of July-Pioneer Trek!!  Such a neat experience.  I got to be one of the captains, so I had a chance to kind of shepherd different families as they walked and walked and walked!  With the heat index at 105, we were all so exhausted and sticky, sweaty gross by the end of the first day! Long story short we decided the continued heat exposure was too dangerous and had to call an audibl mid trek.  Kids were sent home to rest and regroup at the ward later for the rest of the scheduled events.

A couple highlights for me; the mob of local members walking the kids up the first night with real horses and torches, guys dressed up in civil war era uniforms to enlist the men "for war", seeing the awesomeness of our youth as they did the women's pull, listening to Pres. Turner give a devotional after one family had to "bury" their "baby", the band we had come for the dance the second night and seeing the Pioneer Fair come into fruition with a lot of people's help on the last day...oh, and the testimony meeting!!

  1. Our family have probably consumed hundreds of dollars worth of free food at chick fil-a. Love it.
