Ice Ice Everywhere...driving us to the brink...!

(Anyone familiar with theThe Rime of the Ancient Mariner?)

My friend Anna took this picture of her postman and I just think it sums the week up perfectly!  All the schools were closed for three days, all the roads were a sheet of ice.

I was just talking to a friend this morning, (Kristine Orme for you Salt Lakers!) she and her kids put their skates on and literally skated from one yard to the next the other night!! Is that not the coolest thing ever?!

The not so cool part-Andy spent three hours one day and accomplished chipping away about half of the driveway!

By the time we were able to get to the store I was out of everything...bread, Peanutbutter, milk, eggs, butter...just to name a couple essentials! Luckily my kids will drink powdered milk! So we were set until the cereal ran out...which we did!
The electricity kept going out one night, at one point for 40min.  Not ideal when it is below freezing outside.  So Andy spent hours putting heavy plastic on the windows.
Is was kind of nice to have some "hibernation" time, as everything from school to work to mutual night was cancelled...but now I am ready for "Punxsutawney Phil" to make good on his promise and send Spring our way!!

Jackson went out to watch his dad in the subzero weather and came back with the following report, "Mom I think that summer is my season!"

"I am with you on that brother!" (Just not summers here, it's miserably hot and humid! Summers in Hawaii..now you are talkin!)

  1. Ah spring! I literally closed my eyes yesterday and could picture green grass and spring buds growing. I could feel the warm spring breeze gently blowing through my house. I could feel the sun on my face! And then I opened my eyes...
